Famous Players Film Company was formed to produce prestige film productions featuring well-known stage performers. Distribution was handled by Paramount Pictures Corporation (circa 1914-1915).
Fire destroyed the Famous Players studio on 11 September 1915. The company was then merged with Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company, Incorporated, into Famous Players-Lasky Film Company in [?] September or October? 1915.

[The Motion Picture News, 4 April 1914, page 34 : Warning to Exhibitors / A notorious swindler has been forging the signature of Adolph Zukor, president of Famous Players Film Company, and passing bogus checks upon exhibitors throughout the country. Warrant for this forger is held by the Akron, Ohio, police. He has defrauded hotels in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. His description is as follows: Name said to be Chas. P. Saunders, aliases, Chas. A. Sanders, B.W. Somers, Robt. O. Manning, A.P. Stiver; navtivity, American; age, 35 years; height, 5 feet 10 inches; weight, 140 to 150 pounds; build, medium; complexion, light, sallow; hair, dark brown; eyes, blue; style of beard, clean shaven. / If this swindler defrauds or attempts to defraud you; notify your police and cause his arrest.
