Three Women (1924)

This Warner Bros. domestic drama, directed by Ernst Lubitsch, stars May McAvoy, Pauline Frederick and Marie Prevost, with Lew Cody, Willard Louis, Pierre Gendron, Marry Carr and Raymond McKee.

This Blu-ray Disc edition has been mastered from a 4K high-definition scan of an very-good to occasionally excellent 35mm print held by the George Eastman Museum. The source material may have been a foreign-release print as the main titles and all of the intertitles have been reset in digital video still frames. Apparently, no digital clean-up has been performed on the 2020 scan as there is a significant amount of dust, speckling, schmutz, fine scratches, emulsion chipping, and other print flaws remaining in the picture — enough to occasionally be distracting.

The film is accompanied by an orchestral music score compiled by Andrew Earle Simpson.

Supplemental material is limited to an audio commentary by film historian Anthony Slide.

This is our recommended home video edition of the film (well, it is the only one we are aware of).
