The Liberty Theatre was a first-run house in downtown Portland. The theatre was renamed the Music Box Theatre and was in operation long enough to make the conversion to Vitaphone sound film presentation.

Portland’s street numbering changed in 1933. In later years, the theatre was owned by Hamrick-Evergreen Theatres.

This Liberty Theatre is not the neighborhood Liberty Theatre located at 28th Avenue at Couch Street.

The theatre building was demolished, and an office building stands on the block.

Many years later, at least from the 1960s through the 1980s, a Music Box Theatre operated in a location farther south on Broadway just north of the Heilig/Mayfair/Fox theatre. That location is now a Banana Republic retail store.
